Gumpa (my dad) and I took Fuzz skating for the first time today at Creek Valley. Because of the huge amount of snow, none of the rinks had been shoveled, so Gumpa made us our own mini one. I said before we left if we got Fuzz in his skates without complaining, that was going to be a good day. Fuzz blew right through my expectations as he absolutely LOVED it.
We got there and at first, Fuzz was more interested in playing in the snow than his skates. Gumpa and I put our skates on and then Fuzz wanted his on. When they were on, he wasn't quite sure what to do, so we showed him how to "march" in his skates. Then he walked all over the place in them. We brought him out onto the ice and he took to it immediately. He "marched" with Gumpa and his chair and got the hang of just walking in his skates.
Eventually he even figured out how to get up and stand on his own. We were out there for over an hour and not once did he complain about the cold or that his feet hurt. He took a few diggers but it didn't even phase him. Once we could tell he was starting to get tired, Gumpa showed Fuzz how to eat snow :)
Our next step is going to be buying him a helmet because this kid is going to be a kamikaze on ice! Fuzz definitely made me (and Gumpa) proud today!
